Diddy Kong Pilot is a racing video game originally developed for the Game Boy Advance as a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing. The game emphasized aerial gameplay but faced challenges due to Rare's acquisition by Microsoft. The project was ultimately rebranded as Banjo-Pilot, stripping away its Donkey Kong elements. Two distinct versions of the game exist, reflecting its significant redevelopment during production.
Diddy Kong Pilot was the planned follow-up to Diddy Kong Racing, but instead focusing only on flying and nothing else. Due to Rare being acquired by Microsoft, Rare was already far at work into the game and instead of scrapping it altogether, the game was removed of all Donkey Kong references and was turned into Banjo-Pilot.
There are two known very different versions of the game, since it was remade from scratch mid-development.
