Doom II: Desolate Edition is a fan modification for the Game Boy Advance that enhances Doom II by restoring aspects from the PC version, including blood effects. Unlike the Paint Edition, it replaces textures with higher quality, ruined designs, aiming to evoke a Doom 64 atmosphere. This hack is tailored for fans who appreciate a desolate aesthetic in their gameplay experience.
Doom II Desolate Edition is a simple but cool hack. Firstly it builds upon https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3666/, much like his predecessor https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5090/, thus restoring the blood of the PC version. Unlike Paint Edition which replaced every texture with a low-quality MS Paint texture set, this one does the polar opposite and instead replaces every texture with high definition (kinda) ruined textures, which gives the game a Doom 64-esque feeling (minus the creepy music) What else can you ask? So if you like Doom 2 GBA and you like desolate textures, this hack is for you!!! Period.
