Final Fantasy VI Advance: Leveled Out is a fan-made patch for the Game Boy Advance version of Final Fantasy VI that addresses a bug specific to the U.S. and European releases. The Quicksave function improperly interacts with new game sessions, leading to unintended character stat discrepancies. This patch corrects the variable management issue, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience for players.
If you save a game and then Quicksave it, you'll return to the title screen where you can then resume your Quicksaved game using the Continue option if you choose. However, if you instead start a new game, you will be warned that doing so will cause the Quicksave data to be erased. If you do this, then meet certain playable characters in the new game, then get annihilated without ever saving, the game will reload the previously saved game, but those characters that you met will suddenly have low Levels, high HP and 999 MP. This opens the door for lots of grinding to supercharge all of the Returners' stats.
If this patch is applied, the game will instead return you to the title screen, as it should. This bug is exclusive to the US and European releases of FF6 Advance; the Japanese release does not have this bug, nor do the smartphone versions of the game.

URGENCY:
EXTREME!!!
PURPOSE:
The Quicksave function allows the player to save their game in a special slot and then resume it later using the Continue option in the title screen. However, if you start a New Game instead, the Quicksave data will be erased. The only problem is, if the game was saved in one of the three main save slots before the Quicksave, if you then start a New Game, meet a playable character and then get annihilated, the game will reload the saved game with that playable character having the same Level that they had before annihilation, plus a moderate amount of HP and 999 MP.
The reason is because when New Game is selected, the game warns you that starting a new game erases the Quicksave data; when this happens, the variable of which save slot the game was saved in is loaded, but is not cleared afterwards. This patch ensures that it is cleared.
This bug only exists in the US and European releases; the Japanese version has another menu afterwards, which clears the variable.
