Pokémon Carmine Red is a fan-made ROM hack based on Pokémon Red for the Game Boy. It enhances several aspects of the original game while retaining its core elements. Key features include improved Pokémon learnsets, new typings, modified stats, and expanded wild encounters. The game also offers enhanced graphics, additional inventory space, and the ability to delete HMs. Compatibility with Super Game Boy enhances the visual experience.
Pokémon Carmine Red is a personal project of a Gen 1 romhack, using the dissasembly as a base instead of doing a binary hack like it was common many years ago. Based on an decade old idea for a romhack that never got into shape due to the limitations of binary tools, and the desist on continuing it.
The main idea is to enhance a lot of what gen 1 had to offer, while still keeping the mess that the original games were.

- Massive Improve of learnsets

- A bit more difficulty than the original, but nothing crazy. It would be comparable to vanilla B2W2 Challenge mode.

For best results, play with a emulator with SGB support, otherwise most common GB emulators should work.
Use a BPS patcher to patch carminered-1.1.bps over a unmodified copy of english pokemon red.
To play, any regular GB emulator will work. I reccomend yo use une with SGB support for the color experience
Alternatively, you can download the github repository from the release's page, follow the install.md instructions and build the romhack youself, I only recommend this method if you have build pokemon roms from PRET before.
