Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, a follow-up to the RPG Pokémon Colosseum, centers on protagonist Michael, a Pokémon trainer, who must counteract the menacing Cipher's plot to dominate the world using volatile shadow Pokémon. To achieve this, Michael must gather his own shadow Pokémon whilst combating Cipher's henchmen. The game, available on GameCube, allows users to import Pokémon from Pokémon titles on Game Boy Advance and engage in one-on-one battles with other players.
