This hack of 1943 changes the ship names to those in the arcade version/real life, and also includes a re-written intro, "fake ending," and ending that is loosely based on the actual Battle of Midway from World War II.
Hi.
I did this little hack of 1943 while I had downtime at work. It's one of my favorite NES shooters. This hack changes some ship names to match the arcade version/real life, and I also re-wrote the intro, "fake ending," and the actual ending to somewhat reflect what actually happened during the Battle of Midway in World War II.
No actual gameplay was modified; all changes were graphical and textual.
Here's a list of everything I did:
- Re-wrote intro. Cleaned up grammar, changed "Hawknest" to "USS Yorktown" and "Totaku" to "Battleship Yamato"
- Changed all enemy ship names to those in the arcade version/real life
- Changed number font to one that looks more like the one from the arcade
- Partially re-wrote "fake ending" after mission 16.
- Partially re-wrote ending, changed "Hawknest" to "Hornet."
Thanks for downloading.
