Super Mario Bros.: Good Luck Mario is a ROM hack of the classic Super Mario Bros. designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game emphasizes intricate level design, challenging gameplay, and meaningful item placement. With difficulty exceeding that of the Lost Levels, players may face increased challenges around World 5. Unique themes and carefully placed one-ups enhance the experience, while a minor language warning is present at the end.
The focus of this hack is entirely on level design - can you make every item, enemy, and coin placement meaningful? Difficulty is somewhere around a step up from Lost Levels, verging on kaizo-y with some of the tricks towards the end. Save-states shouldn't be necessary, but it gets pretty tough around world 5, so expect a few game-overs. Remember that you can hold A while pressing Start on the title screen after you game-over to retry from that world.
Features:
Very minor language warning at the end, but you may find it's well deserved - if you can make it there, that is. Good luck!
Version 1.1 update:
Lore for nerds: The Princess is tired of Mario simping on her, so she flees through a series of increasingly difficult worlds to escape him.
