Metroid: Metroid mOTHER+99 is a ROM hack for the Nintendo Entertainment System that combines the Metroid mOTHER patch by dACE with the Metroid99 patch by Maximum Potion. This addendum allows players to start with 99 health and refills all energy tanks upon game start. The patch requires the Metroid mOTHER base and is intended to enhance the gameplay experience of the original Metroid game.
This is an addendum to the Metroid mOTHER patch by dACE, which adds the functionality of the Metroid99 patch by Maximum Potion. By patching this on top of Metroid mOTHER, you will start the game with 99 health, and any energy tanks will be refilled. Credit goes to Maximum Potion for the original Metroid99 patch which was adapted to make this.

INTRO
This is an addendum to the Metroid mOTHER patch by dACE,
which adds the functionality of the Metroid99 patch by
Maximum Potion. By patching this on top of Metroid mOTHER,
you will start the game with 99 health, and any energy tanks
will be refilled. Credit goes to Maximum Potion for the
original Metroid99 patch which was adapted to make this.
ROM INFORMATION
This is an addendum patch, and as a result, you need to
patch the original Metroid ROM with the Metroid mOTHER patch
available at romhacking.net. This patch WILL NOT WORK
without first patching the Metroid mOTHER patch. If you want
to have the same effect as this patch without Metroid
mOTHER, download Metroid99 instead (also available at
romhacking.net).

FINAL THOUGHTS
Not a lot to say here. Someone on the romhacking.net forum
said the Metroid mOTHER patch was awesome but needed
Metroid99 added to make it perfect, but the two wouldn't
work together. I knew Metroid99 must be a very simple patch,
so I had a look. I immediately saw why they didn't work:
Metroid mOTHER enlarges the ROM considerably, so the offsets
for the bit changed in Metroid99 are completely different.
So after almost five hours of work, I'd worked out what was
changed and provided the functionality necessary for it to
work.
I didn't include things like the credits that Maximum Potion
had put in the ROM (sorry guys, it's tough putting two
patches together), but full credit goes out to them, and you
should check out their patch if you want to get 99 energy in
vanilla Metroid.
As for Metroid mOTHER, this patch contains none of that,
just the few bytes needed to implement 99 energy and
refilling energy tanks, but credit due regardless, not only
to dACE for compiling it, but to the makers of the three
patches which it combines: snarfblam, Infinity's End and
DemickXII. Hope you enjoy their patches, and I hope you
enjoy my implementation of Maximum Potion's patch, too!
Tools I used for this hack:
FCEUX (best NES emulator for debugging and hacking)
HxD (general hex editing)
