Super Mario Bros.: Super Mario Bros. (European) - Revision B is an unofficial fan-made update of the PAL version of Super Mario Bros. This variant corrects various gameplay and visual elements, such as enemy colors and glitches. Notably, it features a new bonus World 9, an additional challenge, and various adjustments for improved clarity and performance, enhancing the overall player experience on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Super Mario Bros. (European) Revision B is the second (but unofficial, fanmade) revision to the official PAL version (Revision A) of Super Mario Bros. This revision was made with the PAL version's source code that was converted to NTSC (so it works with ASM6) by SpiderDave.
- The Lakitu now throws the Spiny Egg correctly.
- All the red-colored enemies/creatures and collectable items have darker color in castle or underground levels.
- All the green-colored enemies/creatures and collectable items have darker color in ground levels.
- The edge of the cloud/bush is now fully filled with black line.
- The exclamation mark has been resized.
- The dot has been aligned upper.
- The cross graphic by the coin counter has been aligned upper.
- Between the '1 PLAYER' and '2 PLAYER' texts now there is a dash.
- The ending text has been rewritten to be easier to understand.
- Between 'THANK YOU' and 'MARIO!' (or 'LUIGI!') there is now a comma.
- The musics, the sound effects have their original pitch and speed again.
- World 5-3, 5-4, 6-4, 7-2, and 7-3 have completely new different (but selfmade) layout.
- In World 2-1, 4-2 and World 8-4 the pipe's entry now leads the player to the correct place.
- In World 4-2 the teleport glitch has been fixed.
- At the beginning of World 5-1 the castle's length is fixed.
- If the player jumps over the flagpole, there is no endless path anymore.
- Luigi is now a green palette-swap of Mario, but both use the same fire palette.
- Like in Vs. Super Mario Bros., the fire palette of Mario and Luigi has darker yellow color.
- In World 6-3 the Bullet Bill zone has been moved to the further right to prevent the glitch.
- The player can no longer get to the minus world.
- The reversed L-pipes (in World 1-2 and 4-2) are moved to the warp zone directly letting the player to decide whether he/she wants to go to an other world or finish the actual world by going through the reversed L-pipe.
- In the "mushroom sky" warp zone, in World 4-2, an additional reversed L-pipe has been added.
- The lava is darker red.
- World 8-4 has been slightly modified.
- The top of the water area in World 8-4 has been filled with block.
- In the water area of World 8-4 there is a pipe, which has been removed and a hole has been added instead.
- It's not seen in the underground levels, but the water has darker cyan color.
SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE BONUS FEATURE:
- World 9 added as bonus, which is a hard-only "ghost" world that can be accessed by completing the game and then pressing B on the title screen to choose it. Keep in mind that after completing World 9-4 the player must press B again to return to the title. Important that no Bowser can be found and the player will be in hard mode in all cases!
