The Immortal for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a fantasy action-adventure game known for its challenging gameplay and unique graphics. However, it experienced video synchronization issues on some televisions, resulting in distorted visuals. A community-developed patch addresses these problems by replacing a problematic shade of black with a standard one, improving compatibility and display stability.
The Immortal on the NES has video sync issues with some televisions, causing a wobbly picture, or complete loss of signal.
This is because the NES has one colour in its palette that represents an extra-deep black that televisions may confuse for horizontal or vertical sync signals. Most games avoid this, but The Immortal used it continually.
This patch replaces that invalid black with the standard black colour instead.
