Streets of Rage is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game first released by Sega in 1991 for the Mega Drive/Genesis. It is the inaugural title of the Streets of Rage series, followed by sequels. The game was later ported to platforms such as Game Gear and Sega CD. In 2007, it became available on the Wii's Virtual Console, expanding its accessibility to new audiences.
