Streets of Rage 3: Bare Knuckle III DX: The Director's Cut is a ROM hack for the Sega Genesis that revises the original game to restore lost content, including hidden areas and motorbike stages. This enhanced version allows players to experience the game as it was originally intended, with English translations for the text. Although still in development, it offers significant improvements while retaining some unresolved bugs.
This ROM hack makes many changes in order to enhance the original game. Most notably this includes having the lost Round 6 hidden areas and the deleted motorbike stages restored into the game! Finally, we can play Bare Knuckle III uncut, as it was originally intended! At the time of release this was still a work-in-progress, so naturally there are still some bugs. Unfortunately the team has discontinued work on this groundbreaking hack for now. Also converts text to English from Japanese as well!

v1.0 Release Notes

Notes by Glisp (programmer):
Hey guys, this makes all previous BK3 hacks obsolete. It is one of mine and Red Crimson's first attempts to restore not only the lost motorbike stages back into the game, but also the Hidden areas of round 6.
We have successfully fixed round 6 to where if you rescue the General (or go to him once he's died.) after the cutscene the screen will fade out like normal and you'll be teleported to the top floor of Round 6 scene 1. (we're working on making it so that once the screen fades back in you end up standing in front of the General.)
If you'll notice, once the screen fades in, the clock picks up where it left off before talking to the General. If you take the elevator back down to where the General was at, he'll still be there (dead or alive.) but will not talk to you.
We've also repaired the elevator so that it goes down to the basement. You can do this any time but be warned, that if you don't activate the switches, you will disappear at the other elevator. I'll explain why this probably happens later. Activate the switches.
If you want to, you can choose to blow the General off and just leave the building without him (Ohhhhh, That's so evil!). This counts the same as killing him. Congratulations you, you just killed the general.
If you decide to rescue the general, please note that after rescuing him and being teleported back to the top floor, you must make your way to the exit. If the poisonous gas starts up the general will still take damage from it. You are however free to leave the building with haste after he's been rescued.
Beating Jet if you do this will award you with the Good and bad ending story levels. However, leaving the building without rescuing the general or by having the Gas kill him, sets you up for the undetermined ending as normal.
As soon as you start Round 7 Scene 1, Surprise! you are in a bike stage. We have adjusted the bike warps. Apparently, the "which scene in Round 7 you start in data" was determined by a single byte that was set to 01 instead of 00. That's what makes it skip the bike levels. But not any more!!
A little note: We still only have Axel's riding sprites implemented. At least now you guys have something to enjoy to make up for it. We'll work on the other characters for a later version.
