How to apply the patches
=========================
The project contains 2 IPS patches: one is the main patch, while the other enables the parallax scrolling backgrounds in battle.
The main patch must be applied first; after that, you can use the other one if want.
Use a program such as Lunar IPS to apply them to the original game.
Bug fix list
============
v4.3b
-----
- Reverted initial stats, level tables, level scaling and treasure chest content to vanilla, except for Gwyn's tech growth.
Besides due to a bug in warrior Kara's level table, that one needed to be changed a bit.
v4.3
----
- Created an additional patch that enables parallax scrolling backgrounds in battle. (Credit to Peaches who helped find the battle scroll values)
v4.2.1
------
- Tweaked Ayn's palettes a little bit more. (Credit to Peaches)
- The battle cursor fix in the previous revision ended up breaking a few things for techniques, so I decided to revert it back
to the original functionality.
v4.2
----
- Now Ayn's dress matches his hair color just like the 3rd generation intro pictures. (Credit to Peaches)
- In battle, when you select a character as target for techniques, items or defend, the cursor always moves right no matter which directional
button you press. This has been changed so the cursor now moves in the direction of the pressed button; also the UP and DOWN inputs were
disabled in the process.
v4.1
----
- Fixed wrong graphics for the robots in Hazatak and Skyhaven during the up-facing idle frame. (Credit to Peaches)
v4.0
----
- Edited some blinking pixels for Lyle's sprite. (Credit to Peaches)
- Fixed Finis' palettes. (Credit to Peaches)
- Edited party palettes for consistency and to make the characters stand out against each other more:
(All gens)
- Mieu's palette was very slightly modified up to make her less orange.
(Nial's gen)
- Nial's darker color was brightened.
- Laya's hair was adjusted. The darker color was lightened and her hair was changed to match the portrait a little better rather than being straight yellow.
(Sean and Crys' gen)
- Sean was assigned colors from an unused part of the palette to correct the problem and is finally green as he should be to match the intro pictures.
- Crys' darker color was lightened.
- Laya's palette was corrected to make her hair actually blonde rather than yellow-green.
- Kara's hair was changed to an appropriate color based on Toyo Ozaki's works. She was credited as the chief character designer for the game.
(Adan and Aron's gen)
- Adan was assigned to share Gwyn's color palette rather than Kara's.
- Laya/Gwyn's palettes were corrected to make their hair actually blonde rather than yellow-green.
- See the explanation above for Kara and Aron regarding hair changes.
The following menu portrait palettes were edited for the reasoning of matching the character sprites:
- Aron
- Alair
- Kara (Princess)
- Kara (Warrior)
- Lune
Huge thanks to Peaches for all these changes!!!
- For the Techs option in the menu, now the "Can't" message will display if you select a dead character.
Besides dead characters cannot use or discard items.
- Aligned the "Can't" language with the other text for the Equip option.
- Fixed misplaced shuttle sound in the very first screen and after the starting cutscene in Aron's generation.
- Lowered Sean's starting tech power.
v3.5
----
- Now the Speed stat is much more reliable.
- Fixed wrong graphics for Warrior Kara and Alair when facing down. (Credit to Peaches)
v3.2
----
- Fixed self-induced bug where Laya would attack in battle even though she's not in the party in
Aron's generation. (Credit to Toni Hukkanen)
v3.1
----
- Escapipes now work inside the Lashute dungeon. (Credit to Peaches)
v3.0
----
- Fixed palette issue with the NPCs in frozen Rysel.
- Now Hazatak, Mystoke, Mystoke Castle and New Mota have more appropriate palettes.
- Lowered Ayn's and Ryan's technique starting values.
- Now characters' levels are scaled according to the hero's level instead of joining at level 1.
- The Hunting Bow found in Skyhaven is replaced with the Laconian Bow.
- The Royal Chest in the Aerone armor shop is replaced with the Royal Cape.
- The Laconian Helmet found in Lashute is replaced with Royal Helmet.
v2.3
----
- Enabled encounters in the Dahlia Dungeon where you fight Lune for Nial's generation. This also fixes a bug where
the Lune battle background was carried over from the previous map.
- When you get to Shusoran for the first time, there's a different music playing. However there are a couple of
issues: one happens when you save and reload during this time, the regular town music plays instead; the other one
happens when you have Lena in your party and the music goes back to the regular one; when you enter the inn and the
tech distribution shop, the music stays the same, however when you get out, the town music is reloaded: that's because
the game checks whether we have Lena or not, and if we do, the town music restarts.
This patch addresses the above issues in that music in Shusoran should now be consistent.
- Fixed other instances where poison was not removed on dead characters.
- Now the dialogue about the sunken palace during the boat trip to the Landen Island Cave shows up only once.
- Fixed camera starting position after you get out of the Azura dungeon. (Credit to Peaches)
v2.2
----
- You know you can use equipment with techniques (e.g. Force Shield) outside of battle? Well, it turns out
there's a buggy instruction in the item usage logic; after fixing that, you're no longer able to use such equipment
outside of battle. (Credit to Peaches)
- Just like Ryan in the Rebel Cave, when Thea and Sari join, random encounters are supposed to be disabled, but it
only works when you re-enter the dungeons they were at. This has been changed, meaning battles are disabled the moment
they join you. (Credit to Peaches)
- Fixed map transition point being too far on the right when you play as Ayn and try to exit Cille from the left side.
(Credit to Peaches)
- Characters' starting position is too far on the left when you enter Cille; this has been corrected so they appear closer
to the entrance.
- There's a flag which gets activated when you talk to a cyborg in Hazatak mentioning where Wren is; this flag, however, is
unused and Wren shows up either way. Whether this is intentional or not is just speculation, but I wanted to make it work like
Mieu. So now you need to talk to the cyborg that says "The one you seek abides in a western cave" in order to trigger Wren.
v2.1
-----
- After Ryan joins the party, random encounters were meant to be turned off in the Rebel Cave.
In the original game, this partially works, meaning random encounters are still there when
Ryan joins, but they are not when you re-enter the cave. This is fixed now. (Credit to Peaches)
v2.0
-----
- In the original game it's possible to win the battle instantly when you surprise the enemy
and choose a technique whose TP cost is higher than the caster's current TP. This has been
fixed.
- When Rhys is in the Landen dungeon at the beginning of the game, after you talk to Lena and
right before the gate opens, you're temporarily in control of the character so you can move him
up; however due to collision with the gate Rhys will not go down during the walking out cinema.
This patch makes sure Rhys will not move at all when the gate opens. (Credit to Peaches)
- In the original game there is an oversight in regard to the legendary weapons: normally you would collect
all the weapons and talk to the guy in Sage Isle to learn the word of ultimate power (Nei); however it's
possible to skip getting the Miun's Claw, the Siren's Shot and the one the 5th character has in all paths.
You still need to trigger the Miun's and Siren's events, but you DO NOT need to pick up the contents of the
chests they drop. The check for the legendary weapons was completely overlooked and you only need 2
to progress and finish the game: the Orakio's Sword because it's necessary to trigger the Miun's event
and the one the 4th character owns because they are either forced into the party (Gwyn/Kara) or needed
(Laya in order to go pick up the Laya's Pendant).
This patch addresses this issue and now you need to pick up all weapons and characters in order to progress.
Credit goes to Peaches for this discovery!
v1.0
-----
- Mieu and Wren won?t carry over unique items (e.g. Monitor) to the next generation.
- Fixed bug when converting the legendary weapons to Nei Weapons (Pron Glitch).
- You can no longer use the Escapipe when Rhys is thrown into the dungeon at the beginning of the game.
- You can no longer use the Escapipe at the start of a new generation.
- Fixed bug that prevents characters from reaching the max level.
- Dead characters can no longer use healing techniques outside of battles.
- Laya?s stats are retained in Aron?s generation, but her inventory is not; however she starts with the
strongest equipment possible from the second generation.
- Poison status wears off when a character dies.
- Gwyn?s technique power starts lower but grows from the beginning instead of level 40.
- Gnasher?s attack power is much lower.
- Removed Lyle reference at the end of Ayn?s generation.
- Fixed/edited some text in the player menu.
- Corrected the wrong world said by the man on Skyhaven. In the original game, he says Draconia while it's
actually Aquatica.
- Corrected a few typos in the game script.
- All characters start with proper level 1 stats and can reach level 99.
Thank you and have fun!
