Ys III Renewal is a project that seeks to introduce a decent English script into Ys III: Wanderers
from Ys. The text of the game has been fully edited, and in some places retranslated, to create the
most readable and accurate English version of the game. All names have also been updated to match
the modern localizations of the Ys series by XSEED and NIS America. In addition to all of that, it
contains some graphical changes to make Ys III on Genesis look better while more closely resembling
the X68000 version that it was originally ported from.
Version 1.1 brings some minor improvements to graphical changes made in v1.0, and more importantly,
restores images from the game's ending that were present in the original microcomputer versions,
but removed from the original Genesis port. Huge thanks to MP83 (@TheMSXChannel on Twitter), who
edited the missing images to fit the Genesis' unconventional color palette. We're both very happy
with how it turned out!
To apply the patch, use any IPS patcher with a clean USA ROM of Ys III. It will not work with a
Japanese ROM, nor should it be applied on top of a previous version of Renewal. The ROM you should
be applying to is exactly 1 MB in size, and its checksums are:

I also have plans for future versions, though I can't make any guarantees about when or even if
they will be released. For a v2.0, I want to add an easier difficulty option to match the game
balance of the original PC-88/PC-98 game rather than the harder X68000/Genesis/SNES version. For a
v3.0, I'd like to implement further graphical improvements that are more technically challenging
than the ones I did for v1.0.
