FINAL FANTASY II w/ FE QoL HACKS by b0ardface
---------------------------------------------
This patch takes the following quality-of-life improvements
made in the Free Enterprise randomizer and applies them
to vanilla FF2US v1.0:
- The player dashes on the map by default. Holding Y will
reduce to original walking speed. This behavior can
be inverted from the in-game Custom menu.
- Holding Y will speed up the movement of the hovercraft
and yellow chocobos, and slow down the movement of airships
and the Big Whale for precise landings.
- Menu animations are sped up.
- Random encounters can be toggled on/off from the Custom
menu. Note that this setting also affects the Trapdoor
fights in the Sealed Cave and the forced Behemoth fights
in Cave Bahamut.
- When opening a treasure chest, you can press R to immediately
discard the item. If you do this in error, you can retrieve
the treasure by checking it again. This grace period lasts
until you leave the immediate area.
- Double-selecting the trash can in the item menu will put
you into "quick trash" mode, where selecting an inventory
item once will immediately discard it. This cannot be
undone, so be careful with it.
- Pushing SELECT on the item menu, equip screen, shop menu
or post-battle treasure menu will show more detailed info
about the highlighted item. (Note that unlike in Free
Enterprise, the row of icons in weapon and armor info boxes
showing which characters can equip the gear will exclude
characters that have not yet been recruited.)
- In-game music can be turned off (leaving sound effects
intact) from the in-game Custom menu.
- Flashing visual effects can be disabled from the in-game
Custom menu, for players with photosensitivity issues.
- MSU-1 soundtracks are supported (though music fading
effects with MSU soundtracks are not). The process of
configuring your ROM to use MSU-1 soundtracks is outside
the scope of this document, but for reference, the
track numbers are as follows:
