Mega Man X: Mega Man X MSU-1 Audio is a fan-made patch for the 1993 Super Nintendo game Mega Man X that enhances its soundtrack with CD-quality audio through the MSU-1 audio specification. This patch is compatible with higan, BSNES, and the SD2SNES flash cart, allowing for a non-destructive gameplay experience. If the MSU-1 chip is not detected, the original audio plays automatically.
This patch is intended to replace all the music from
the 1993 SNES game, Mega Man X, with full CD-quality streaming
audio using the MSU-1 audio specification created by byuu.
This patch requires the MSU-1 audio 'chip' to function, and as such will only function properly with the higan and BSNES emulators, as well as the SD2SNES flash cart.
However, the .spc fallback routine means that if the MSU-1 chip is NOT detected (such as in an emulator that does not support it, like ZSNES or snes9x), the standard audio will play, leaving the game to play as if un-patched. Non-destructive patching, FTW.

Mega Man X MSU-1 hack
Version 1.0
by DarkShock
This hack adds CD quality audio to Mega Man X using the MSU-1 chip invented by byuu.
The hack is made for the 1.1 version of the game. Tested on SD2SNES, higan 094. BSNES 075 have some issues.
The patched ROM needs to be named mmx_msu1.sfc.
Note they are two IPS patches:
- mmx_msu1_emulator.ips is the one to use for proper volume in emulators.
- mmx_msu1.ips for SD2SNES

= Using higan =

1. Patch the ROM
2. Launch it using higan
3. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Emulation\Super Famicom\mmx_msu1.sfc in Windows Explorer.
4. Copy manifest.bml and the .pcm file there
5. Run the game

= Using BSNES =

NOTE: The patch still have issues with BSNES.
Just patch the ROM and launch the game. The pcm file needs to be in the same folder.

= Using on SD2SNES =
====================
Drop the ROM file, mmx_msu1.msu and the .pcm files in any folder. (I really suggest creating a folder)
Launch the game and voil?, enjoy !

TheRetromancer's Music pack, consisting of remix from YouTube and the PSP version:

For my personal tests I'm using a mix of OC ReMix and music from the PSP version for the upgraded audio. I would really love to release a music pack with only music from the fans.
If you want to make your own music pack, here's the music index:
