Secret of Mana: No Text Boxes is a patch for the Super Nintendo game Secret of Mana that eliminates all text box decorations, resulting in free-floating text. This alteration enhances the visual clarity by reducing screen clutter, providing more emphasis on the artwork and gameplay. While it improves menu navigation, it may compromise text readability against bright backgrounds. The patch also removes the Window Edit option from the menu.
This patch removes all text box decoration (borders and background) from the game, leaving the game's text free floating. This declutters the screen to make more room for the artwork and the action. A side effect of this change is that it reduces the contrast and therefore the readability of the dialog in some scenes with bright backgrounds, but that might be an acceptable trade-off to you if you value decluttering the screen more.
