Final Fantasy III: Phoenix Chest is a patch designed for the Super Nintendo game Final Fantasy III, which fixes a bug involving the Phoenix Magicite chest in the Phoenix Cave. Normally closed after being opened by the character Locke, the patch keeps the chest accessible for continuous gameplay. It includes various patches for both headered and non-headered ROM files across different platforms.
The chest at the end of the Phoenix Cave is automatically opened by Locke when you reach the end; it contains the Phoenix Magicite. If you go back to that spot later, you'll find that the chest has somehow been closed again, and you cannot reopen it. For the sake of continuity, this patch makes that chest stay open.

URGENCY:
Very low. Only applicable if you actually feel the need to go all the way back through the Phoenix Cave a second time, in which case you should seek professional help.
PURPOSE:
After you've found Locke in the Phoenix Cave, the chest that he opened to find the Phoenix Magicite can no longer be opened. That normally wouldn't be a problem, except that apparently someone closed it while he was using it to revive Rachel. Either that, or Locke decided to close it before he left because...reasons. This patch makes the open chest at the end of the Phoenix Cave stay open.
