Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana -- Item & Shop Changes
v2.8, by hmsong
The Item Shop in the game felt lacking, especially in the beginning (that's where you need it the most). And the items in the Byzel Black Market were way too overpowered. And, the normal seeds needed more love. So, this patch changes numerous items available in the shops.
Hopefully, none of the new shop items will end up screwing up any events (will Dreamsee Herb screw up the events in the beginning of the game for certain characters?). If any of you notice something, then please PM hmsong, so he can fix it.
Some notes:
- All seeds (including Magic Seed and Weapon/Armor Seed) can be bought in stores (most require a Class Change), although you can't access some stores until certain plot points. See the attached document for more detail. That ought to make money more meaningful, especially by the end of the game.
- Added Secret Shops in Island of Oblivion and Mana Holyland.
- The price for most consumable items increased (so that they can be abused less, at least in the beginning). On the other hand, they can be sold for more money.
- Shuriken (item) can now multi-target.
- Most seeds do different things (some uses the unused animations).
- Changed the icon colors for seeds -- Mysterious Seed is red, Flying Item Seed is green, and Magic Seed is blue.
- Stardust Herb's animation changed from Tinkle Rain to Flash.
- Angel's Grail restores 250 HP instead of 999 HP. That way, Angel's Grail does not make all other items obsolete. It still fully restores all MP (I don't know how to change that) -- Update: I included a patch that doesn't debuff Angel's Grail, due to multiple requests.
- Gunpowder causes self-death (can be used infinitely). Be careful with it.
- Changed the menu icon colors of some items.
- Some of Pedan weapons are only available after the Class Change 2. However, those weapons are now stronger than before (although not as strong as the final weapons).
- Changed few minor things in Elrand, Sultan, Mintos, and Diorre armor shops.
See the attached document for details.
Applying Notes:
- To combine with the Class Balance patch, apply the Class Balance patch first, then apply this -- if you don't, then you may not get the increased attack power from some of the Pedan weapons.
- This is specifically for No Header ROM. If you only have a Headered ROM, then you can use TUSH () to remove the header.
- Compatible with the English
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/440/. But again, you need a No Header ROM. If you are using the translation patch from Romhacking.net, then you need to apply the translation to a Headered ROM first, then use TUSH to remove the header. And then you can apply these patches.
- Compatible with the new Trials of Mana ROM, released in 2019. But again, you need a No Header ROM.

Sin of Mana
-
- This changes the contents of the game in many ways, such as equipment bonus, level-up change, class balance, difficulty, boss behaviors, running in battles, MP regeneration, dungeon format, and tons of bug fixes. It's a completely new game though, since so much has changed, and the game progress is slightly different.
- There is also a forum (google "Sin of Mana forum"), where you can ask the creator (praetarius5018) numerous questions. He is very helpful, and even helps you to create your own hack. He certainly did for me.
- Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with the new Trials of Mana.
- Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with hmsong's patches.
Please leave comments or reviews. This would give the creator ideas on what is good or not, and depending on the situation, even revise the patches.

Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana -- Item & Shop Changes
v2.8
by hmsong
================================================================================
The Item Shop in the game felt lacking, especially in the beginning (that's
where you need it the most!). And the items in the Byzel Black Market were way
too overpowered. And, the normal seeds needed more love. So, this patch
changes numerous items available in the shops.
In addition, numerous item effects have changed.
Hopefully, none of the new shop items will end up screwing up any events (will
Dreamsee Herb screw up the events in the beginning of the game for certain
characters?). If any of you notice something, then please PM me, so I can fix
it.
Details:
- All seeds (including Magic Seed and Weapon/Armor Seed) can be bought in
stores (most require a Class Change), although you can't access some stores
until certain plot points. See below for more detail. That ought to make
money more meaningful, especially by the end of the game.
- Added Secret Shops. They are in:
- Island of Oblivion (available after four God-Beasts are slain),
- Mana Holyland (Hint: Kill the enemies).
- The price for most consumable items increased (so that they can't be abused as
easily, at least in the beginning). On the other hand, they can be sold for
more money.
- Shuriken (item) can now multi-target.
- Instead of the original, "Recovers 50 HP for all allies", all seeds have
different effects when used as items (some use the unused animations):
- Item Seed: Sees one enemy's information (Detect animation), but it
glitches the menu text. It goes back to normal if you
use any of the menu selections though (items, skills,
etc). Anyways, I hope someone somewhere fixes this at
some point.
- Mysterious Seed: Uses AntiMagic on all allies (Squid Ink animation).
- Flying Item Seed: Does an AGI-based Air-elemental attack on one/all
enemies (Feather Blizzard animation).
- Magic Seed: Causes Snowman SE on all enemies (Tidal Wave animation).
- ??? Seed: Recovers 20 MP for all allies (Magic Walnut animation).
- Weapon/Armor Seed: Does a powerful STR-based attack on one/all enemies
(100 Tentacles animation).
- Changed the icon colors for seeds -- Mysterious Seed is red, Flying Item Seed
is green, and Magic Seed is blue.
- Stardust Herb's animation changed from Tinkle Rain to Flash.
- Angel's Grail restores 250 HP instead of 999 HP. That way, Angel's Grail does
not make all other items obsolete. It still fully restores all MP (I don't
know how to change that).
- Due to multiple requests, I made two patches regarding Angel's Grail:
"Full Grail", which fully restores the target's HP, and "Quarter Grail",
which only restores 250 HP. Take your pick. They overwrite each other, so
try them out.
- Gunpowder causes Wound SE (can be used infinitely), but gives HP/MP Up (you
are going to have to act fast to use this effectively). Be careful with it.
- Fixed a bug that made Gold Shield purchasable to Duran's D classes (not that
he was able to equip them).
- Changed the menu icon colors of some items.
- Removed accessories from Josephine armor shop 1, to make the accessories from
the previous shop more relevant. Instead, I added the elemental shields (for
those who don't know that you can get them from Forcena).
- Added Dragon Shield to Pedan armor shop (Duran LL & LD classes only).
- Some of Pedan weapons are only available after the Class Change 2. However,
those weapons are now stronger than before (although not as strong as the
final weapons).
- In the original game, there is a bug that made the ??? Seeds grow the Dark
Class Change items of a character if you changed the said character's class
into LD class. While I was unable to fix the bug, I did make the correct
Class Change items available in one of the secret shops.
- Changed few minor things in Elrand, Sultan, Mintos, and Diorre armor shops.

your idea (either PM me or post it on the discussion forum).
Applying Notes:

- Apply the Class Balance patch first, then apply this -- if you don't, then
you may not get the increased attack power from some of the Pedan weapons.
- This is specifically for No Header ROM. If you only have a Headered ROM, then
you can use TUSH (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/608/) to remove the

- Technically enables you to have infinite money, at least from the mathmatical
point of view (figure out the method yourself -- it shouldn't be that hard).
Think of this as a reward for being able to do math. This is intended to be
somewhat useful only up to Full Metal Hugger (which is where you need the
money). After that, it would be faster to kill weak monsters to build money.
- This is actually how some real merchants make money -- when they have
sufficient capital, they invest on products, then they improve them, then
they sell them for higher price.
1.0
- Initial release.
