Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana -- Less Grinding
v1.8, by hmsong
Seiken Densetsu 3 required a LOT of grinding for level up (esp the mid parts of the game). In fact, most of the time, it was required for you to just run through the dungeon without fighting and get to the next parts of the plot, just so you can grind a bit faster. And even then, the process of grinding for EXP was long and painful, because the EXP requirement was so much, relative to how much EXP you got from monsters.
This patch makes it so that the required EXP for level up is more reasonable. Specifically, up to Lv54, the required EXP for each level up is less than the original game (as much as ~1500 EXP). However, from Lv55 and on, the required EXP for each level up is more than the original game (as much as ~1500 EXP). By that time though, that's just 1~2 more enemies. Eventually, by Lv99 (if you ever get there), the total EXP requirement would be the same as the original.
Also, many monsters will drop more EXP. Again, this is to reduce the grinding.
However, because you grind less for the same level, that means you will ultimately end up with less money at the same level. So, in order to offset the difference, many enemies will now drop more money. Hopefully, this will be enough to make the necessary difference.

- This is specifically for No Header ROM. If you only have a Headered ROM, then you can use TUSH () to remove the header.
- Compatible with the English
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/440/. But again, you need a No Header ROM. If you are using the translation patch from Romhacking.net, then you need to apply the translation to a Headered ROM first, then use TUSH to remove the header. And then you can apply these patches.
- Compatible with the new Trials of Mana ROM, released in 2019. But again, you need a No Header ROM.

- This changes the contents of the game in many ways, such as equipment bonus, level-up change, class balance, difficulty, boss behaviors, running in battles, MP regeneration, dungeon format, and tons of bug fixes. It's a completely new game though, since so much has changed, and the game progress is slightly different.
- There is also a forum (google "Sin of Mana forum"), where you can ask the creator (praetarius5018) numerous questions. He is very helpful, and even helps you to create your own hack. He certainly did for me.
- Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with the new Trials of Mana.
- Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with hmsong's patches.
Please leave comments or reviews. This would give the creator ideas on what is good or not, and depending on the situation, even revise the patches. You can also send me an email (address in the attached document).

Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana -- Less Grinding
v1.8

Seiken Densetsu 3 required a LOT of grinding for level up (esp the mid parts of
the game). In fact, mosf of the time, it was required for you to just run
through the dungeon without fighting and get to the next parts of the plot, just
so you can grind a bit faster. And even then, the process of grinding for EXP
was long and painful, because the EXP requirement was so much, relative to how
much EXP you got from monsters.
This patch makes it so that the required EXP for level up is more reasonable.
Specifically, up to Lv54, the required EXP for each level up is less than the
original game (as much as ~1500 EXP). However, from Lv55 and on, the required
EXP for each level up is more than the original game (as much as ~1500 EXP). By
that time though, that's just 1~2 more enemies. Eventually, by Lv99 (if you
ever get there), the total EXP requirement would be the same as the original.
Also, many monsters will drop more EXP. Again, this is to reduce the grinding.
In addtion, Cockatrice, Pakkun Baby, and Pakkuri Baby all drop the same amount
of EXP and money as their adult forms -- it's more fair that way.
However, because you grind less for the same level, that means you will
ultimately end up with less money at the same level. So, in order to offset the
difference, many enemies will now drop more money. Hopefully, this will be
enough to make the necessary difference.
Applying Notes:
- To combine with Better Monsters and/or Class Balance patches:
- Apply the other patches first, then apply the Less Grinding patch -- if you
don't, then you may not get the increased EXP/money drop from some monsters.
- To combine with praetarius5018's bugfix AND hmsong's Evade Changes:
- First, apply the bugfix patch, then apply the Less Grinding patch, then
apply the Evade Changes patch.
- To combine with praetarius5018's bugfix, but NOT hmsong's Evade Changes (this
will use bugfix patch's Evade stats):
- Apply the Less Grinding patch first, then apply the bugfix patch.
- Sadly, doing this will overwrite some minor things from the Better Monsters
and/or Class Balance patches.
- This is specifically for No Header ROM. If you only have a Headered ROM, then
you can use TUSH (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/608/) to remove the
header.
- Compatible with the English NCorlett-translation patch. But again, you need a
No Header ROM. If you are using the translation patch from Romhacking.net,
then you need to apply the translation to a Headered ROM first, then use TUSH
to remove the header. And then you can apply my patches.
- Compatible with the new Trials of Mana ROM, released in 2019. But again, you
need a No Header ROM.
