Super Metroid: Re-Imagined is a ROM hack for the Super Nintendo, initiated in 2013. It aims to preserve the essence of the original game while introducing a redesigned world map and modified item progression. The hack features increased difficulty, emphasizing exploration, wall-jumping, and navigational challenges, while allowing for some sequence breaking opportunities for experienced players.
This was a hack started in 2013 while messing around with SMILE. This hack is a balance of being authentic to the look and feel of the original, but with a new world map, new item progression, some custom code, and other, smaller changes.
Difficulty-wise, Re-imagined is a bit harder than the original mainly on the exploration front. There is also a short heat run (optional if you're good at wall-jumping) and navigating part of Maridia without Gravity. Some basic wall-jumping, bomb jumping, midair morphing and shine-sparking is required. Infinite bomb jumping, mock-ball, opening gates from the wrong side, and short charging aren't required. If you've beaten the original with 100% at least once, Re-imagined should be doable without save-states.
Some sequence breaking is possible.
