F-ZERO: trancingdeeper's FZEdit Track Compilation is a fan-made modification for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, featuring four custom tracks created using the original FZEdit tool. The compilation allows players to experience unique tracks, showcasing advanced level design techniques. Instructions for patching a headerless F-Zero ROM are included, enabling access through practice mode.
Unlike most hacks submitted on the site, this is a .zip release of 4 tracks that were created from the original release of FZEdit, where single track exporting was the only thing possible, hence the 4 patches when extracted.
Instructions are included in the Read-me, which is both available for download, and in the .zip file. Also included are overhead renders (the editing view) of the tracks, showing the whole map, etc.
Hello!
Okay, bit of an introduction, these 4 tracks were created on the ORIGINAL release of FZEdit, when single track exporting was possible.
Some tracks are very outdated by my standards, mostly since they were made very early, and I had very little experience in level making in Tiled at the time.
But in an interest to allow people to see what is possible with the new level making techniques with Tiled, I compiled all tracks into one .zip file so that others can play them.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Obtain a headerless ROM of F-Zero
Note: A headerless ROM is a slightly reduced ROM of the game, the typical headerless ROM names for F-ZERO would be F-ZERO (U) [!].smc or along those lines. Make sure the file's size is 512KB, as a normal ROM of F-ZERO is 1024KB.
2) Download Lunar IPS (http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/) and install it.
3) Put a copy of the headerless ROM into the folder containing all the patches.
4) Start up Lunar IPS, and click apply "Apply IPS Patch"
Note: If you want to reduce time, you can just double left-click the IPS file.
5) Click on the headerless ROM in the folder to patch, and voila! You now can play the tracks!
Note: If you want to play more of the patches, you'll need more copies of the headerless ROM in the folder, because once a headerless ROM has been patched, it becomes a full sized ROM.
To access the tracks, enter PRACTICE MODE and select either Port Town 2 (Skyline, Bayside), Big Blue (Quiet Sea), or White Land (Winterblown Circuit).
Anyways, thanks for playing my tracks! I've included 50% sized renders of the tracks in the renders folder, to see them from the editing/aerial angle.
