Have you ever wondered, how smart you are? Time to test it out with this unconventional Zelda hack, which will test the limits of your intuitive and logical thinking.
This is a short and yet complete hack of Zelda3, with the main goal to force the player to think. In addition new ASM codes have been inserted. These codes made some fantastic new puzzles and items possible, not seen in the original. A lot of gfx has also been changed. Some later parts of the game will however require good old sword to sword action.
May the Einstein be with you.
Note:
This is the RE-release with the game being reformated to standard (compliant) Lorom, which is compatible with all possible SNES emulators and devices, and the game also uses a standard IPS patch.

The Legend of Zelda
IQ TEST 2-1
/\
/__\===================================
/\ /\ DESCRIPTION
/__\/__\=================================
/\
/__\===================================
/\ /\ THE ORIGINAL ROM
/__\/__\=================================
To be able to play, you are required to own the original US non-headered Zelda A link to the Past SNES ROM with 1.024 KB and the CRC-32= 777AAC2F. European, Japan or other region ROMs will Not work. 1.025 KB ROMs (= headered ROMs) will Not work.
Get the ROM yourself, since nobody can legally get it for you. Google that thing.
CALCULATING CRC
===============
CRC is a checksum (hash) ID of a file to verify the exact version. Get this ROM Hasher program for calculating hashes:
http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1002/
Run program by clicking the HASH.exe. Drop/open your original ROM in this hash program and click the ALL HASHES tab. You must see this:
File CRC32= 777AAC2F
ROM CRC32= 777AAC2F
Do not Patch if the upper numbers don't match with yours,
it will result in a bugged and non working ROM, while the process of patching is irreversible!
REMOVING THE HEADER (= if file size is 1.025 KB)
===================
If you have the US version of the rom and yet with 1.025 KB, use this TUSH utility:
http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/608/
and then click on the Remove Header.
/\
/__\===================================
/\ /\ PATCHING
/__\/__\=================================
1.) To play this game, you are required to have the CORRECT original Zelda A link to the past US ROM (see upper section). Get it yourself - since nobody can legaly get it for you. Note: there are also ROMs which are NOT compatible with this IPS, such as headered ROMs, European or Japan ROMs etc.
2.) Get the IPS Patching Program (Lunar IPS) here:
http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240/
Note, this program is Not included with this patch for safety purposes, since it is an exe file.
3.) Open Lunar IPS and select "Apply IPS patch".
4.) Under "patch" select:
Zelda3_IQ_test_2-1_IPS_patch.ips
5.) Under "file to patch to" select:
The original AlttP US non headered SMC ROM file with 1.024 KB.
6.) Patching is successful. Now your original ROM has become the IQ hack ROM, so rename it to IQ 2-1, since you might otherwise mess up the srm saving system, since you might load the IQ hack with the Alttp srm, due to having the same name.
7.) Note: the extension of the file must remain SMC, as it was with the original file.
PATCHING PROBLEMS
=================
IPS is an obsolete and dumb patching format. Even if you patch to the false original ROM, resulting in a bugged ROM, it will still say "patching successful", while it has no CRC safety check. So do Not patch to other ROMs. Your original ROM CRC-32 must be 777AAC2F and it must have 1.024 KB!
/\
/__\===================================
/\ /\ PLAYING
/__\/__\=================================
Run the CORRECTLY patched SMC file in the emulator/device of your choice. Every possible SNES emulator and device is supported: PC emulators for Windows, Linux, Mac; SNES emus for PSP, Wii, DS; flashcart, powerpack, sd2snes, repro carts, SNES clones, such as Game doctor; online SNES emulators etc.
We basically don't care what you do with the hack, even if you cart and sell it. We obviously also could Not test the hack on all the upper devices, however its format should insure compatibility, as it is in the same format as the original game and it is thus yielding to its limitations/standards.
/\
/__\===================================
/\ /\ EDITING
/__\/__\=================================
Do you want to edit this game further? You can do that freely. Load the game in the Hyrule Magic editor and do what you want with it. Use zcompress and YYchr programs to extract or edit GFX and a HEX editor to extract custom ASM codes.
Do you want to translate it, make a parody/spoof of it etc etc? You can do that freely.

/\ /\ SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
/__\/__\=================================
I am now basically in the "don't care" mode regarding my romhacking projects, which means that:
1. If you want to cart the IQ hack; sure, why not, must be a good game then if you are willing to put effort and actually make a phisical copy, and if someone is willing to buy it (I seriously doubt it thought for the IQ hack), sure, why not, since then someone is actually willing to spend a lot of money on it, must be good game then.
2. Now you will be able to play it on every possible device/emulator for SNES which exists (Wii, PSP, DS, PC, sd2snes, real hardware, Snes clones etc, even the dumb thing of the online playing emus), the hack is compatible with srm saving, while not being difficult or bugged because of no save-state function (note: this is not true for some hacks, and this is not true if the author is not extra careful while constructing).
3. Don't like the IQ hack? Open it up in Hyrule Magic an change it to your own desire then. I actually don't care if you bring nazi swasticas in there or change the texts so, that you will troll the author with them, or change the author's name into your name and thus "steal the authorship" of it. The author doesn't care. Or change all the pals to vivid pink, like someone already did for some other hack of mine, while trolling. Sure, why not. I don't care.
4. Do you like some custom GFX or ASM codes of the IQ hack? Extract them with zcompress/yychr and use/copy them to your Zelda3 hack freely. Use a hex editor to extract ASM.
5. Want to make an easier version/master quest or remodel of the IQ hack? Sure, why not. Do that freely.
6. Want to use the IQ hack for learning purposes: for instance you want a similar but easier block puzzle variant in you hack using those custom blocks, like multipushable block, water blocks etc? Sure, why not. Open the rom in HM and see how it is designed to learn how to hack Zelda3.
7. Want to use the IQ hack as a template for your hack? Sure, why not, since a lot of ASM and GFX is in there already and the rom is much more stable than original AlttP (data transfers done). Starting your hack from AlttP with HM is more risky, than if you start with the base of the IQ hack. Choice is yours.
8. Do you want to make a Let's play of the hack on You tube? Sure, why not.
9. Do you want to make radical reviews of the IQ hack on You tube, forums or other media; containing bad humor, extreme violence and even threats, like the "game is shitty", the "author should be kicked in the face for doing this", "the game is garbage", the "game is a patience test, rather then an IQ test"? Sure, why not, the authors are beyond that and will not respond.
10. Do you want to accuse the author of spreading viruses, malware, spyware etc, which is according to you hidden in the hack? Sure, why not, it's your democratic right and the authors will not respond to it. But it doesn't mean your statements have anything to do with the truth. And even though they would in fact be true, we also don't care.
We also don't care if you pack your viruses with this game and resubmit the bundle as "false" updates and further accuse the authors of spreading malware and thus achieve the removal of the hack or indeed put the authors on a bad name, as being responsible for the spreading of malware. Do that freely, we don't care.
11. Do you want to make a cart of the IQ hack and make a You tube video with you holding the cart, while promoting illegal cart-making shops? Sure, why not. But of course you need to take full responsibility for this. The author has nothing to do with these actions.
12. Do you want to spread the rumor that Flashback entertainment is the author of this game and cross out the name of the actual author of this hack? Sure, why not. I don't care.
13. Do you want to trick and misinform the buyers of a possible cart for this hack, that it was infact done by Nintendo and that it is owned and condoned by Nintendo? Sure, why not.
14. Do you want to translate this game into something other than english language? Sure, why not, do that freely.
15. Do you want to inform Nintendo, that a bastarded version of their game exist and that a serious theft of copyrights has been made with this game/mod? Sure, why not, but do note that this was intended to be a fan project, done purely for the love for a cherished old game, which never had a sequel and that no money or profit was made by the mod authors, and that the mod was released for fair and private use only as a patch, to be used by players who own the original rom, purely for entertainment. There was absolutely no "faul play" in mind when creating this modded game. Plus, we are Nintendo fans anyway and will buy their products further, no matter if they ban "unofficial" fan projects or not.
16. Do you want to flag this game as "non-compliant" dangerous file at romhacking net site and spam and force out the site to remove the hack? Sure, why not. Every site has the right to simply dismiss and remove the hack, without stating any reasons. I don't care.
17. Do you want to accuse the author of this hack, that the game is directly responsible for the destruction of the devices the game was loaded in, such as Wii, PSP, PC, OS of PC, real hardware? Sure, why not. It is your right to do that. You also have the right to hold the authors responsible for the destruction of your favourite console and go to court and demand we buy you a new Wii, which the game apparently has destroyed. You can do that freely, we don't care, but it doesn't mean your statements have anything to do with the truth. And even though they would in fact be true, we also don't care.
18. Do you want to curse, spam, threat, accuse and troll the author for the reasons stated in the paragraph 17. or any other paragraph? Sure, why not, we don't care.
