Final Fantasy IV, initially released for the WonderSwan Color, is an exclusive Japan-only port notable for deriving its game mechanics significantly from the PlayStation version. Notwithstanding the unavailability of FMVs and the reduction in screen resolution and music quality to accommodate hardware constraints, the port revolutionizes character sprites and backgrounds through enhanced graphics and color depth. It also involves substitution of the initial character portraits and modulation of specific boss sprites, akin to those present in the Japanese Easy Type variant of the Super Famicom version. Diverging from both the original and the Easy Type versions, the game prides itself on a revamped level of challenge.
