Adventure Island is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Hudson Soft, initially released for the Famicom in Japan on September 12, 1986. The game made its North American debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System in September 1988 and later appeared in the PAL region as Adventure Island Classic in 1992. It is based on Sega's arcade game Wonder Boy and led to a series of sequels by Hudson Soft.
